Welcome to over 100 years of tradition with The Spirit of the West Marching
Band! It gives me great pleasure to invite you to join us for what promises to be an
exciting season of fantastic music and hard (but enjoyable) work.

Plans for the 2006 season are well under way. There will be six home games plus
a trip to Missoula, MT for the annual Cat/Griz game. Enrollment for the new season
looks impressive. Information requests from new students are arriving and we hope to
have a strong group of returning veteran members. Together, we will once again have a
quality college marching band to support our Bobcats!

This booklet should answer all of your questions regarding The Spirit of the West
Marching Band. It has been carefully prepared to cover all-important topics: auditions,
residence hall check-in, and enrollment procedures. If you have questions not answered
here, please call us at (406) 994-3562.

It is with all sincerity that I welcome you to our MSU family. I hope that the next
several years will be the most exciting and productive time of your life. The Spirit of the
West Marching Band embodies everything that is wonderful about college marching
band – great music, pride, tradition, school spirit, precision marching, and lifelong
friendships!

I hope you will make plans to be a part of this outstanding organization. The road
to membership begins by returning the enclosed postcard. This will reserve a spot for you
at Preseason Training.
