MR. STEPHEN VERSAEVEL
PROFESSOR OF PERCUSSION
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF THE SPIRIT OF THE WEST
Stephen Versaevel is a candidate for the Doctor of Music in Percussion Performance
degree at The Florida State University College of Music. He earned the Bachelor
of
Music degree from South Dakota State University, and a Master’s degree
in Performance
from the University of Kansas before attending FSU, where he instructed the
Marching
Chiefs “Big 8” Drum Line as a teaching assistant.
Stephen has been a featured soloist with the University of Kansas Percussion
Ensemble and The Florida State University Percussion Ensemble, and was also
asked to
perform on FSU’s prestigious Kaleidescope series concert. Stephen may
also be heard on
the Repmedia release of Dusk: Percussion Music from the Heartland, as well as
repertoire recordings for Carl Fischer.
MS. KELLY LAWLOR
COLOR GUARD INSTRUCTOR
This will be Kelly’s fourth season with the Montana State University Marching
Band.
Kelly has a background in the fine and performing arts including design, dance
and
music. Originally from Colorado, she began teaching color guard in 1999. She
has been
designing and teaching color guard work for various high school and college
teams and
teaching flag clinics ever since.
Kelly received her B.A. in Journalism/Public Relations from Colorado State
University. In addition to MSU, she currently works as a marketing director
for a local
real estate company and volunteers as Performing Arts Division Coordinator for
the
Sweet Pea Festival.
